How to get a Hi Tech job.
Our economy sucks, and frankly, it favors folks with technical degrees. However, there is a place for folks who have non-technical backgrounds including folks without a high-school diploma. The fact of the matter is that the US Goverment imports over 80,000 people a year to fill high-tech positions a year that could easily be filled by US folks. So, in order to get one of these positions, a little work needs to be done.
First, you have to prove yourself.... you have to get technical cred before you can get a high-tech job. The best way to prove this is to get some sort of degree. I chose to get a community college degree after the army. Another way is to become a contributor and then a commiter to an Apache Software Foundation project.
Both of these suggestions require that you know what you're doing. You dont' want to land a job that you wont be successful doing. As such, there are a number of organizations that will help you. They will be included on future blogs.
